みなさん、

今週は　私が　山田さんに　手がみを　かいました。たのしかったですよ。

しゅみ

私は　水えいと　ジョギングが　すきですよ。でも、水えいが　もっと　すきです。なつ休みの日に　いつも　およぎに　プールに　いって、ジョギングを　しますよ。でも、今は　たくさん　いそがしくて、しゅくだいが　あって、あまり　うんどうを　しません。よくありませんよ。ふゆ休みに　大学のプールで　およぎます。

おんがくも　私のしゅみです。　ピアノを　ひくのが　すきです。プリンストンは　ふるいピアノが　あって、だいじょうぶです。そして　よく　クラシックおんがくお　ききます。私も　うたを　うたいますよ。

Midterm Reflection!

みなさん、こんばんは。

I've been studying いほんご for more than 6 weeks! It's been a great journey, and it's time to reflect on what I've accomplished so far.

1/ I was able to watch アニメ (いぬ　やしゃ!) for about 10 - 20 minutes/day for the first 4 weeks, but then midterms came about... Anyway, I think I'll stick with at least 20 minutes/day watching アニメ and listening to にほんの music. There's a にほんの artist who has covered a lot of Western pop songs that I've been listening to.  Here is an example of what she did:

2/ It's embarrassed to admit this, but I've only been to にほんごの　テブール only once... Yet I do want to try going more regularly. I'll put down once every 2 weeks for now, but hopefully I'll be able to go more often that that.　

3/ I also plan to go to 先生の office hours at least once every 2 weeks to practice speaking outside of class.

How I Plan to Speak Better Japanese

こんばんは、みなさん。

Learning にほんご with you guy has been very fun! I still make a lot of mistakes, but I have plans to improve my にほんご. Speaking is especially challenging since I keep unconsciously sprinkling my pronunciation with Korean sounds.

So first, I plan to watch more anime and Japanese documentary and pay attention to the pronunciation. I seem to speak a foreign language a bit better right after I watch a movie in that language, both in terms of pronunciation and grammar. The anime I chose, for now, is Cardcaptor Sakura. I am going to watch it for 15 minutes every other day. On the weekends, I'll try to watch at least an hour of a documentary in Japanese!

I will also try to listen to Japanese music while I cook dinner everyday. I have a friend who loves Japanese music. We have quite similar taste, so hopefully she will be able to recommend to good songs to me.

Last but not least, I will definitely go to Japanese Language Table on Tuesday. A lot of people got to meet Makino せんせい already! Hopefully I won't embarrass myself by speaking bad Japanese in front of him...

Cat and Japanese

はじめまして。

Nice to meet everyone! I'm glad to be in the same class as those who are interested in Japanese. I enrolled in the class because I like the pleasant sound of Japanese. I also like Japanese food and national costume きもの (hopefully I'll get to wear one one day!).

I did not know any Japanese at all prior to the first day of class, so everything is new for me. I will try hard to catch up with you guys, and I look forward to a great semester with everybody.
